SCHOOL :
The Stoat Pipe Band Society (SPBS) is a Pipe Band. Our Scottish musical band combines bagpipes, snare drums, tenors, and bass drum. SPBS is based in SAUTRON in the urban area of NANTES.
SPBS is directed by Patrick PILARD, who has long worked alongside Jean-René Guilbaud, one of the best players of Scottish music of his generation, with Emile ALAIN, Pierre GALLAIS, as well as Trevor PATERSON, former regimental piper of the Queen.
Building on that expertise, and in order to train pipers, a school is open to everyone in SAUTRON under PILARD’s leadership.
Teaching is the same as delivered by the College of Piping in Glasgow and students follow the same acquisition grades in order to allow to everyone the possibility to obtain a level grade 4.
This in order to play in formation of a compound musical program :
- Traditional tunes
- Tunes for performance stage, concerts and festivals
- Marching tunes for parades
- Musical Suites like MSR more specifically focused on competition
Training is also set up for the drum section, under the direction of Sullivan TRIPON.
